In the spirit of reconciliation Chance Studios acknowledges, as white settlers with privilege, that we live, work, and play on the Treaty 7 Territory region of Southern Alberta. Prior to the Treaty signing in 1877 and to this present day, this land is sacred to many Indigenous Peoples who are the original occupants and stewards of this land.

Treaty 7 encompasses the traditional lands of the Stoney Nakoda Nations of Chiniki, Wesley, and Bearspaw, the Tsuut’ina First Nations, the Kainai, Siksika, and Piikani nations of the Blackfoot Confederacy, and Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III.

A local book we’ve found integral to our learning is These Mountains Are Our Sacred Places by Chief John Snow.

A more national perspective has been gleaned from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada
